"Freshwater AK" pearls are nucleated freshwater pearls cultivated by inserting a small, round bead nucleus into the mantle tissue of a *Hyriopsis cumingii* (triangle sail mussel). The nucleus dictates the pearl's shape, resulting in superior roundness and a more intense luster compared to standard, non-nucleated freshwater "seed" pearls. They feature a very thick nacre layer—reaching up to approximately 1mm—which is significantly thicker than that of saltwater Akoya pearls, making them more durable and resistant to losing their luster during everyday wear.
